Nero, (A.D. 54-68), gold aureus, Rome mint, (7.338 grams), issued A.D. 66-67, obv. laureate head of Nero to right, around NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS, rev. Jupiter enthroned to left, holding thunderbolt and sceptre dotted border, around IVPPITER CVSTOS, (cf.S.1930 [£1200 VF], RIC 63, BMC 77). Old red tone, very fine or better and rare.
The weight conforms to the average of the specimens in the British Museum.
