SICILY, Selinus, (520-500 B.C.), silver didrachm, (8.61 grams), obv. selinon leaf, rev. incuse square divided into triangles, (S.730, ANS MN 33, Pl. 2, No.25, [This Coin]). Attractive reverse tone, slight surface roughness on obverse, otherwise very fine/extremely fine and very rare.

Ex. Selinus Archaic Silver Hoard, (this hoard contained 35 coins of Selinus, the most ever found of this mint in a hoard and a total of 165 silver coins and four silver ingots). The hoard was buried between 510-500 B.C. and is consequently the earliest of its kind ever found in Sicily. The reverse die on this coin is die linked to three other coins in the hoard.
