Siculo-Punic, (c.410-395 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.200 grams), obv. forepart of a horse to left, crowned by Nike above to right facing left, grain ear before, two incense burners interposed in the legend, 'M HN T' (The camp), rev. Punic legend 'QRT HDST' below a palm tree with two date clusters, (S.6427 [p.594], Jenkins, SNR 53, cf.34-35 [same obverse die, new reverse die, dies 09/R-], cf.McClean 3033). Well centred, nearly extremely fine and very rare variant.
Ex Malter Galleries (lot 259). Jenkins records only two examples of this coin type from this obverse die, both with different reverse dies. This example comes as the third example from this obverse die but with a new reverse die. Jenkins and Lewis note the entire series comes from ten obverse and thirty two reverse dies.
