Zeugitania, Carthage, (possibly Siculo-Punic), (c.250 B.C.), the time of the First Punic War, electrum tridrachm, (10.190 grams), obv. head of Tanit to left wearing necklace with nine pendants tied at back with ends hanging loosely, a triple pendant earring and a wreath of grain ears, dotted border, rev. horse standing to right on exergual line, above a sun-disk between two uraeus combras, dotted border, (S.6474 [p.599], Jenkins, Group Xb, No.430 [same dies], Weber 8491, SNG Cop. 996 (Sicily) and 183 (North Africa), De Luynes 3747-8, Jameson 923). Flan crack as with most examples of this type, and several scratches in the reverse field, otherwise nearly extremely fine and very rare.
