Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochus I, (280-261 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.832 grams), Series III Group C, Seleucia on Tigris mint, issued 264-263 B.C., obv. diademed head of Antiochus I to right, dotted border, rev. Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow and bow, on right, **BASILEWS and to left **ANTIOXOU, to left and right monograms, (cf.S.6866, Newell ESM 166, SNG Spaer 292-5). Obverse surface porosity, dull grey tone, nearly fine/fine, scarce.

Ex Giessener Munzhandlung, Munich, November 20, 1998 (lot 920 part). Newell notes a total of 12 tetradrachms of this type in public and private collections.
