Mackay to wife and daughter in Newtown, Sydney, from Otto's Hoop 5.9.1900 and 7.9.1900, and from Mafeking 16.9.1900, one with letter enclosed, covers endorsed ``On active service. Stamps not available.'' All taxed 1d. Together with field despatch ``To Vanguard. Enemy has retired from Ridge Contour 10D am pushing patrol forward. S. J. Shillington Capt. 28th (illegible) Contour 10D 9.20 a.m. (illegible).'' In field envelope addressed to vanguard. (4)
