Italy, Lucania, Thurium (Thourioi), (c.350-281 B.C.), silver stater or nomos, (7.856 grams), obv. head of Athena to right wearing crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with figure of Scylla, shield object before, rev. bull butting to right, **YOU[RIWN] and **SW* above, **FI* to left, two dolphins below in exergue, dotted exergual line, (cf.S.447; SNG ANS 1067-8 [same dies]). Off centred on obverse and reverse, otherwise extremely fine and a rare type.
