Italy, Calabria, Tarentum (Taras), (334-330 B.C.), silver stater or nomos, (7.814 grams), obv. naked horseman at full gallop on horse to right, holding javelins and shield, below **ADI*, rev. Taras astride a dolphin to left, holding a shield with hippocamp and a trident on right shoulder, below a purple shell, to left **FI*, to right **TAPAS, (cf.S.342, cf.Vl.594 [same obverse die], SNG ANS 990 [same obverse die]). Attractive tone, very fine.
