Julius Caesar, (assassinated 44 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, struck 44 B.C., (3.11 grams), obv. [CA]ESAR DICT PERPET[VO] around Caesar's laureate head to right, dotted border, rev. L. BVCA in exergue, caduceus and fasces in saltire in agles, axe, globe and joined hands, (S.360 [£850], Cr.480/6, Syd.1063, C. Julius Caesar 25 [£440]), Uneven shaped flan, may have had a piece of edge clipped off in antiquity, otherwise fine and rare.
Ex. Glendining's London, 1 June, 1989 (lot 106). Only 11 obverse dies used for this coin type according to calculations made by Crawford.
