Description

M. Volteius M.f., (c.78 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.85 grams), obv. bust of Attis or young Corybas to right, wearing laureate helmet, piercer behind, rev. Cybele seated in chariot to right drawn by two lions, **L[A]* above, M.VOLTEI. M.F. in exergue, (S.-, Cr.385/4, Syd.777, B. Volteia 4). Even grey patina, scrape on cheek, slightly off centred on the obverse, otherwise very fine and rare.
