Attica, Athens, (166-57 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.784 grams), Late period issue, 124-123 B.C., (Thompson date) but probably 92-1 B.C. (revised chronology), obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right wearing triple-crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with Pegasus, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, on prostrate amphora, dolphin on trident on right, legend across **A QE, XE NO*, to left **KLHS APMO XE*, all within wreath, (cf.S.2555, cf.Thompson 1080 same obverse die, uncertain reverse die). Nearly extremely fine and rare.
