MC: CG.30May1918. 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He led his company with great dash and initiative, and reorganised it after the capture of the objective. Later he took command of the right half of the battalion, and consolidated and secured the position with great skill and energy. When his flank became exposed it was largely owing to his efforts that the unit on the right was able to establish connection. His work undoubtedly saved what might have been a critical situation'. Bar to MC: M/O 434 7Sept1918. With research.
