Bolivia, Philip III, (1598-1621), cob eight reales, Potosi mint, not dated, c.1616-1617, assayer M, obv. crowned arms, to left P/./M, to right [o/VIII], rev. arms of Leon and Castille, (cf.Cal.156-7, KM.10). Cob flan, grey tone, with good surface, good fine and rare.
Ex. 'Atocha' Spanish treasure ship. This Spanish treasure galleon was caught in a storm and struck a reef off the Florida Keys on September 6, 1622. She sank with the loss of 260 lives. Mel Fisher rediscovered the wreck on July 20, 1985.
