An important series of numismatic publications for the student, scholar and collector of coins with many major articles being the standard work of that study. Although published in Switzerland, many articles are in English and the rest either in German, French or a few in Italian. The specialist studies on ancient and medieval coins, include in English the standard work - Coins of Punic Sicily by G. Kenneth Jenkins; Balcer, The Archaic Coinage of Skyros and forgeries of Konstantinos Christodoulos; Morkholm, Coinage of Ariarathes VI and VII; Vermeule, Numismatics in Antiquity; Allen, The Philippus in Switzerland and the Rhineland; Kiyonaga, The date of the beginnings of Coinage in Asia Minor; Balcer, Phokaia and Teos: A monetary alliance; Kraay, two late fifth century B.C. hoards from South Italy; Balcer, The Early Silver Coinage of Teos; Balcer, Peparethos: The early coinage reconsidered; Starr, Naval activity in Greek Imperial issues. Many of the other papers in German or French are the major studies of that city, hoard or subject and are generally easy to follow. An indispensible publication with no complete sets being available in any public collection in Australia. The cataloguer is only aware of two near complete sets and these are privately owned.
