Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochus II, (261-246 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.02 grams), Series I, Sardes mint, issued 261-250 B.C., obv. diademed head of elderly Antiochus I to right in high relief, rev. Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow and bow, on right, **[B]ASILEWS and to left **ANTIOXOU, in exergue **AS AN, (cf.S.6886, Newell WSM 1235, BMC [Num.Chron.1917, p.23 Pl.iii,4 same dies], Pozzi sale 2936-7, same obverse die). Old dark tone, good very fine/good fine, scarce.
