Burma, Eastern Toks of Nan, lump base silver tamlung, as sham shell money, c.17-18th century (Mitchiner claims c.1615-1768), lump weight 61.4 grams (4 kyat), cast in low silver, oval hollow depression on base (caused by blowing when hot when cast), covered on cup with red-brown lacquer (ochre), (Robinson and Shaw, The Coins and Banknotes of Burma, Chapter 4, pp.26-9, M.2803). Small hole as usual, very fine, scarce.
