Madeira Islands, 40 reis of Phelps 1802 countermarked F.I. (Fenay & Irmaos) issued (1884) on obverse (P.81). Toned very fine; attractive patina nearly extremely fine (2).
The first ex J.King in 1986, the second ex Spink Australia Sale. F.I. is for Fenay Irmaos who took over the business of Phelps, a ship chandler.
