A set of four ex R.J. Ford (lot 709) Collection and a set of five ex Spink Sale 106 (lot 1279). In 1907 there were some 70 employees, a manager, an engineer and two overseers yet by 1916 all business had ceased and the island has been deserted ever since. The tokens were issued to pay for tasks and were redeemable at the company's store, despite the 1881 anti-truck act (see Lyall p.181).
