Qalhatid, (Kings of Hormuz), Turanshah IV b. Salghur, (A.H. 948-971) (A.D. 1541-1564), gold fractional dinar, (1.88 grams), not dated, mint of flan, but with counterstamp of Safavid ruler, Sultan Muhammad Khudabandah (A.H. 985-995) (A.D.1578-1588), to pass as a half mithqal, struck in fine gold (A.1942/1945, [2617]). Good very fine and very rare.

The Kings of Hormuz was a dynasty that gained independence from the Salgharids of Fars in A.H. 676 (1278), and later founded New Hormuz on an island in 1301, by 1500 the dependencies of Hormuz included Bahrain and Muscat. A combined English-Persian force in 1622 conquered the kingdom.
