Ghaznavids, Mahmud b. Sebukt-egin as Yemin al-dawla, (A.H. 388-421) (A.D. 998-1030), silver four dirhams, Anderaba mint, A.H. 389 = A.D. 999, (A.1608, M.766). Weak in places, otherwise nearly extremely fine.

See note in previous lot. This issue of a multiple dirham has a sword in the obverse field, and were very rare, until the discovery of a huge hoard of some 30,000 specimens in 1967. A large number were of this type.
