Augustus as Octavian, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver quinarius, uncertain Italian mint (probably Brundisium, maybe Rome), issued 29-27 B.C. (1.64 grams), obv. Octavian bare head to right around CAESA[R] IMP VII, all within linear circle, rev. [ASIA] RECEPTA around, Victory draped standing to left, right hand holding wreath and left hand a palm, all on cista mystica between two snakes, (S.462, RIC 276, C.14, BMC 647). Good very fine - extremely fine and rare in this condition.
Ex. Nvmmorvm Avctiones, Italo Vecchi Ltd. auction sale 12, June 5, 1998 (lot 628 illustrated). The subjection of the Province of Asia occured in 30 B.C.
