Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochus II, (261-246 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.995 grams), Series II, Seleucia on Tigris mint, issued 255-246 B.C., obv. diademed head of Antiochus I to right, dotted border, rev. Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow and bow, on right, **BASILEWS and to left **ANTIOXOU, to left and right monograms, (cf.S.6886, Newell ESM 189, Hunter 25, ACNAC Houghton 963 [same obverse die]). Old grey tone, nearly very fine/fine, scarce.
Ex. Spink & Son, London with their ticket. Newell notes a total of 12 tetradrachms of this type in public and private collections.
