Italy, Lucania, Velia, (c.305/4-293/290 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (6.97 grams), Period VII, obv. head of Athena to right, wearing Attic helmet, AH behind, rev. lion walking to right, **[U]ELHTWN in exergue, **P below lion, corn ear above, (cf.S.454, Williams 474 [these dies], SNG Budapest 425 (same dies), 1187-9, SNG ANS 1292). This in packet described, fine, good metal and a scarce mint.
