Italy, Lucania, Velia, (c.365-350 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (7.27 grams), obv. head of Athena to right, wearing Attic helmet, ornamented with centaur, **Q behind, rev. lion walking to right, **UELHTWN in exergue, X below lion, above traces of flying owl, removed from die, (cf.S.454, Williams 273 [These Dies], SNG Cop. 1548, SNG ANS 1293). Off centred on obverse, otherwise fine, a scarce die combination.
