MAORI; printer's proof of Communion token of admission in paper, undated but circa 1847 by Colenso (Williams 163). Two printed paragraphs in Maori followed by a Scripture reference and at the base 'Tukua tenei tangata ki roto' (Allow this person within) 'Na te Koreneho' (By Colenso) (115 x 85mm). The two parts were divided and pasted on the front and back of a card (78 x 57mm) by Colenso as a ticket of admission for attending communions. Good extremely fine and excessively rare, an important printed ephemeral item relating to the cross over between the Maori and the Christian community.
