Enl. 22August 1914 Albert Park, Vic. RTA. 29 January 1919. MC: C.G.20 Dececember 1917. 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During four days shelling he performed invaluable service in extinguishing no less than fifteen fires which had broken out in his own and three adjacent batteries. The services which he rendered were certainly the means of saving the ammunition, and perhaps the guns, of four batteries. He also assisted in removing wounded to a place of safety during hostile shelling, and, as on previous occasions, displayed gallantry of a very high order'. *Bar: C.G.3 June 1919. 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near Feuillaucourt on 3rd September 1918, when the battery position was suddenly shelled and seven men wounded. Though himself suffering from gas, he carried wounded from gas-filled dug-outs and assisted to carry them to the dressing station, one and a half miles away, through heavy barrage. He set a fine example of cool courage to the men of his battery'. M.I.D. C.G.4 October 1917. With research.
