Description

China, Western Han Dynasty, silver cast 'Pan Liang', round cash with square hole, (c.246 B.C. - A.D. 6), character each side, diameter 32mms, (15.6 grams), (cf.Coole 9280-9 Vol. 7, p.78, cf.Sch. 79-94 but thicker, cf.TFP 415). Crudely cast, otherwise very fine and unlisted in silver.

Much heavier than the bronze issues that range from 5 to 10 grams, it however has a high percentage of copper present. This silver issue is both unusual and seemingly unlisted.
