Sassanian King, Ardashir I, (A.D. 224-242), silver hemidrachm, obv. bust to right with long beard, close fitting headress with globe above, rev. fire altar without attendants, (Sellwood 7 [£500], Gobl 11, M.797). Has been mounted and repaired on edge, otherwise very fine and very rare.
