Syria, Kingdom of, Alexander I Balas, (150-145 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.53 grams), Antioch mint, Series II undated issue, obv. diademed head of Alexander I to right, line border, rev. Zeus seated left on throne, holding Nike and sceptre, on right, **[B]ASILEWS ALEXANDROU* and to left QEOPATOROSU EUERGETOU*, under throne monogram **RP* in exergue, and another at knee of **ODGU*, (cf.S.7030, cf.ACNAC Houghton 181, cf.Newell 165 but neither have the monogram near the knee). Good very fine, extremely rare and apparently unpublished.
