Macedon, Potidaea, (c.500-490 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.58 grams), obv. Poseidon Hippios on horse standing to right, holding trident and reins, star of five rays beneath, rev. incuse square diagonally divided into four triangles, (S.1282 [£1800], ACNAC Rosen 107 [p.8, Pl.7 this coin]; Asyut hoard 213-8 similar dies, SNG ANS 688-9, Price 'Coinage of Potidaea' Group IBa1-4 [not noted for five ray star below]). Flan cut on obverse as usual, otherwise nearly very fine, very rare, with only a few known.
