Septimius Severus, (A.D. 193-211), gold aureus, Rome mint, issued A.D. 194, (7.24 grams), obv. laureate head of Septimius Severus to right, around L SEP SEV PE RT AVG IMP III, rev. around DIS AVSPICIB TR P II COS II P P, Hercules on left standing left holding club and lion-skin, Bacchus to right standing to left, holding oenochoe over panther and thyrsus, (S.-, RIC 31 [R2], C.114, BMC 58). About as struck, extremely fine and very rare.
