Description
HMAS Tingira Leave Tally. Silvered brass disc. Rare. Very fine.
Originally named Sobraon, Tingira was used by the New South Wales Government as a training ship moored in Rushcutter's Bay Sydney. Acquired by the R.A.N. in 1911 it was sold in 1929. These tallies were used onboard as an indication of absence on leave (being replaced on a board on return from leave) and also entitled the holder to limited free tram travel whilst proceeding to and from the ship.
