Attica, Athens, (166-57 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.8 grams), issued 145-4 B.C., (Thompson date) but probably 115-4 B.C. (revised chronology), obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right wearing triple-crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with Pegasus, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, on prostrate amphora, to left Triptolemos in car pulled by snakes,legend across **A QE EYM APEI, **DHS, ALKI DAM, WOI*, ME below, A on amphora, all within wreath, (cf.S.2555, Thompson 672b [same obverse die], cf.SNG Fitz. 3218). Nearly extremely fine and rare.
