Italy, Lucania, Velia, (c. 350-320 B.C.), silver stater or didrachm, (7.40 grams), Period VI, obv. helmeted head of Athena to left, wearing crested Phrygian helmet, ornamented with centaur, reversed K C monogram behind, rev. lion standing to left, devouring piece of meat between fore-paws, **UELHTWN in exergue, **F* below lion, (cf. S.456, Williams 372 [same dies, O.188/R.262], SNG ANS 1344 same dies). Nearly very fine, and a scarce die combination.
