An assortment of military related items to Sgt C.Wheeler D.C.M. including a silver plated award cup (ht.16cms, hallmarked) inscribed 'Sct.C.Wheeler D.C.M. / 52nd Royal Fusiliers / B Coy / Highest Score / Part III / g.m.c. / Dec 1918'., also soldiers small book, wallets(2) with photos, notebook, sewing kit, mirror, badges, buttons, 9ct gold sovereign case, British Empire Exhibition, 1924 and 1925 medals in bronze (51mm) in cases. New Zealand born Charles Arthur Wheeler O.B.E. (1881-1977) settled in Australia as a child. He studied art, painting and teaching, exhibiting and studying both in Australia and U.K.-Europe. During World War I Wheeler enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers and won the D.C.M. at Vimy, France in 1916. After the war he painted scenes of the Australian Army in action. Wheeler won major art contests that included the Archibald Prize in 1933.
