Description

Imperial Germany, Prussia, 1st Grand Ducal Hessian Guard Dragoon Regiment No. 23 sword, with straight fullered blade (approx 84cm long), intricately patterned on both sides, voided metal guard featuring crowned advancing lion with sword, with black patterned grip, ricasso with two images and the initials W K & C (Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie) of Solingen, with polished metal scabbard with a belt suspension ring and with attached leather strap with attached grey pommel.

1st Grand Ducal Hessian Guard Dragoon Regiment No. 23 was an elite cavalry unit in the Hessian and subsequently Prussian army (based in Darmstadt).
