British War Medal 1914-18. 6060 Pte. F.A.Coleman. 22-Bn. A.I.F. Impressed.; also tribute medal for fallen soldiers in gold (26mm; 9ct; 5.51g), with pin-back, obverse with enamelled colour patches of 20 Battalion and 22 Battalion and inscription, "In Memory /of/Fallen Brave", reverse inscribed, "Presented to./Mrs Coleman./By the Residents of./Smithfield./In memory of./Ptes E& F.Coleman./1914. 1915". Frank Albert Coleman, clerk, age 21 born at Smithfield, NSW; Enl.27Jul1916 in 22Bn at Royal Aust Showground with previous service in 18Infy CMF; Emb.30Oct1916; to France 15Mar1917; TOS 22Bn 31Mar1917; KIA 18Sep1917 Belgium; buried at Hooge Crater Cemetery, at Zillebeke, east of Ypres. Frank Coleman's brother, 4993 Eric Arthur Ernest Coleman, 20 Bn was also KIA 5-8 May1917 in France while serving with 1Bn. Ex Alan McRae Collection.
