Description

Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochos VI Dionysos, (144-142 B.C.), silver tetradrachm (16.66 g), Antioch on the Orontes mint, dated SE 170 = 143/2 B.C., obv. radiate and diademed head to right, within a filleted border, rev. the Dioskouroi holding reins and couched lances, on horses rearing left; above **BASILEWS* / ANTIOXOY, below **EPIFANOUS/ DIONUSOU*, to right TPY above monogram above XP, below **STA*, OP (date) below; all within wreath of laurel, ivy, and grain ears, (S.7072, SC 2000.3d, DCA 178, HGC 9, 1032).
