Description
Aberfield Industries, Sydney, c1970s, machine tokens (2), one struck in cupro-nickel and the other in brass, both (27mm) (G.-; TMR.-). Extremely fine; stained, very fine. (2)
With a note from Leon Morel dated 29 April 1998. 'Dear Bill, My usual response is nothing new to offer you, so it is nice to enclose something special. The two pieces were used at Smithfield Freezing Works (Alliance) in Timaru. They were issued to sheep truck drivers who were required to wash and hose out trucks after delivery of sheep (poo & wee) and before they went back on the road again. It discontinued this system of control on the truck wash system, do not know when. I got them from retired engineer. 2 @ $15 each.' With a further notation 'Dear Leon, Many thanks - does your engineer friend remember if the metal change (cupro-nickel or brass) had any special meaning?, Regards, Bill.'
