Culverden, fob medal, hand engraved in gold (9ct, 6.2g, 26x26mm), by G.C. & Co (Giles Coates, Christchurch), ring top suspension, reverse inscribed 'Presented/By/The Residents of/Culverden/To/Q.MSgt.P.Hadley MM/on his return from/Active Service/1919'. Very fine.

2/1977 Gunr Percy Robinson Hadley, NZFA, 6th Reinforcements, embarked from New Zealand 14 August 1915.

MM: Gunner, 13th Battery, 3rd Brigade, NZ Field Artillery. LG: 9 December 1916 p12058, Rec No 260.

This man moved forward with the reconnoitring party, practically with the Infantry, laid telephone wire to O.P. in Switch Trench near Flers and to Battalion Headquarters under continuous heavy fire, and kept same in repair throughout the day. By this act he showed great courage and devotion to duty and assisted materially in the efficient working of his battery.
