Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand, life member's badge, struck in gold (15ct, 13.9g, 30mm) and dark blue enamel, by M&K (Mayer & Kean, Wellington), pin-back suspension, reverse inscribed 'Rt. Hon./W.F.Massey/P.C. L.L.D./Prime Minister/1924'; another, struck in gold (9ct, 7.7gm, 29mm) and light blue enamel, reverse inscribed 'W.W.Massey'. Very fine, the first illustrated. (2)
William Ferguson Massey, known as 'Bill' or 'Farmer Bill' (26 March 1856-10 May 1925). He was the 19th and second
longest serving Prime Minister of New Zealand, from 1912 to
1925, he was also founder of the Reform Party. He is widely
considered to have been a very skilled politician of his
time and was renowned to his support of rural New Zealand.
