The Royal Life Saving Society, Established 1891, struck in bronze (32mm), no maker, reverse inscribed 'William H.Mathews/23-11-10'; another but Award of Merit, struck in silver (28mm), English maker and hallmark, reverse inscribed 'W.H.Mathews.1913'; St John Ambulance Association, membership medal, uniface, struck in copper (gilt) (35x35mm), reverse inscribed 'William H.Mathews/No.23969'; also, handcrafted in silver (30mm), reverse inscribed 'Presented/To/S.J.Mathews/By/J.S.Houlder/for/Scriptural Knowledge/9-12-86'. All with ring top suspensions, Very fine. (4)
W.H.Mathews was an Olympics' swimming selector. He lived in St Clair, Dunedin and died in 1942. Sarah Jane Mathews was his sister who also lived in Dunedin. She died in 1946.
