Description

Fire service group, the miniature medals of Brian Armstrong, the former New Zealand Fire Service Commissioner, includes miniatures of OBE, QFSM, 1977 Jubilee Medal, NZ Fire Service LSGC with three clasps, mounted for wear; also, UFBA 25 Years Service Star in 9ct gold with 7 clasps, UFBA Life Member Medal & another UFBA Medal. All medals unnamed. Extremely fine, the miniature UFBA medals very rare.

Brian Shields Armstrong born 8/12/1932 at Wanganui. Attended Wanganui Collegiate. He was a builder from 1950-62 when he joined the Fire Service. Commander of Hamilton Region 1981-82, Commander Auckland Region 1982-86, Fire Commissioner 1986-90, Chief Executive and National Commander 1990-93. Retired 1993. Now deceased. 1977 Jubilee Medal as Chief Fire Officer. Queens Fire Service Medal for Distinguished Service 1985, 1990 Medal as Fire Commissioner, OBE 1993 for services to the NZ Fire Service.
