Auckland Chamber of Commerce, Chairman, Trevor Davis Memorial, 1948 Intermediate Section, handcrafted in gold (9ct, tot wt 17.2g, 35mm), no maker, ribbon, bar and pin-back suspension, reverse inscribed 'Presented/to/W.H.Knox'. Extremely fine and rare.
Trevor Moss Davis (1902-1947), was director of Hancock and Co., a family business founded by his grandfather Moss Davis in the late 1800s.
On 23 October 1947 he suffered a heart attack and died, aged only 45. This happened shortly after he left a meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, of which he was President.
A memorial fountain to Trevor Davis was gifted to the people of Auckland by his father Eliot in 1950, this stands in Mission Bay and recently had a makeover by the Auckland City Council at a cost of $150,000.
