David Thomas Maggs, labourer, age 29, born at Narrandera, NSW; Enl.17Jun1940 at Griffith, NSW, with previous service as a Private in 56Bn, militia; posted to 8Bn 28Jun1940; TOS 2/19Bn 29Jul1940; Emb.07Feb1941 with 2/19Bn; Disemb.18Feb1941 at Singapore; MIA believed killed 19Jan1942; now reported with unit and well 07Feb1942; MIA 16Feb1942 in Malaya; for official purposes now presumed dead 15Feb1942; listed as being on the SS Ban Ho Guan, a Dutch ship sunk with all hands while attempting to reach Java from Sumatra; commemorated at Australian War Memorial, Griffith "We Will Remember Them" Plinths, Griffith Cenotaph, Singapore Memorial, Yenda WW2 War Memorial.
