Trio to KIA: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 1984 Pte F.D.Marsden. 9/Bn. A.I.F. on first medal, 1984 Pte. F.D.Marsden. 9-Bn. A.I.F. on last two medals. All medals impressed. Display mounted, ribbons dirty, a few small edge nicks on second medal, otherwise very fine.

B&W and colour photos of F.D.Marsden and the memorial at Port Douglas.^Ex Nettle 12/11/1985.^Frederick Dickson Marsden, laborer, age 26, born at Sydney, NSW; Enl.13Jan1915 in 9Bn at Port Douglas, Qld; Emb.16Apr1915 with 1-9RFTS for 9Bn; TOS 9Bn at Gallipoli 22Jun1915; to hospital sick 17Aug1915; rejoined unit 04Jan1916; Tfr to Camel Corps 29Jan1916; to L/Cpl 24Mar1916; reverts to ranks 12Jun1916 for disobeying an order; hospitalised with diorrhoea and then moved to France and rejoined 9Bn 26Jun1917; KIA 20Sep1917 in Belgium; buried at Hooge Crater Cemetery, Zillebeke, Belgium; commemorated at the Port Douglas war memorial and on the Roll of Honour at the Australian War Memorial.^With copy of Service File and other research.
