Military Cross Group of Four: Military Cross (GRI); 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. Lieut Herbert. R. Dunlop. R.F.A.(T). Gallipoli 1915. on first medal, Lieut.H.R.Dunlop. R.F.A. on second medal, Major H.R.Dunlop. on last two medals. The first medal engraved, the other medals impressed. The first medal is swing mounted and in case of issue and toned extremely fine, the other three medals are swing mounted and very fine and in a case.
Together with a selection of ribbons and ribands in a case, some damaged; a set of seven swing mounted miniatures attributed to Major H.R.Dunlop includes 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19; George V Jubilee Meal 1935; George VI Coronation Medal 1936; Defence Medal 1939-45; War Medal 1939-45; other uniform items attributed to Major H.R.Dunlop includes Officer's pips in enameled metal (9); Royal Artillery officer's collar badges in brass (4); British Army Captain's cloth shoulder epaulettes; British Army officer's cloth cuff rank pips (10); Major's metal crown; overseas service chevron with four stripes; Royal Field Artillery cap badges (3), one with crown detached but included; British Territorial force badge; WWII British Home Guard badge in metal and enamel; English rose embroidered Deputy Lord-Lieutenant braided cap badges (2); Defence Medal instructions.^MC: to Lt Herbert Reiach Dunlop, R.F.A., T.F. - Supplement to LG 23/11/1916, p11400; also a letter dated 21 June 1918 from the War Office forwarded to A.Dunlop at Capt Dunlop's request stating that the M.C. was presented to Capt. Dunlop by his Royal Highness the Duke of Connaught at an investiture held at Sarona (present day Israel) on 18.3.18 and afterwards returned for safe custody.^Also a postcard from the Home Office to Mrs Dunlop regarding the issue of the Defence Medal 1939-45.^Herbert 'Bertie' Reiach Dunlop (1893-1943), appointed to a commission as 2 Lieut, 4th Lowland Brigade, Royal Field Artillery (Territorial Force) 21Mar1912; to Lieut Mar1914; called to service 05Aug1914 and served with Royal Field Artillery, Territorial Force, 52nd Lowland Divn, Lowland Howitzers; to Capt 01Jun1916; awarded MC in 1916 for actions in Gallipoli in 1915; Acting Maj from 06Jun1918Disch.08Jul1919 retaining rank of Capt; joined Home Guard 14May1940 until his death in 1943.^See also lots 42, 2543, 2544, 2545, 2547, 2548, 2550, and 2551.
