Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochos II, (261-246 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.02 g), Series I, Sardes Mint, issued 261-250 B.C., obv. diademed head of elderly Antiochos I to right in high relief, rev. Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow and bow, on right, **[B]ASILEWS and to left **ANTIOXOU, in exergue **AS AN, (cf.S.6886, SC 518.1, Newell WSM 1385, BMC [Num.Chron.1917, p.23 Pl.iii,4 same dies], Pozzi sale 2936-7, same obverse die, HGC 9, 236f). Old dark tone, good very fine/good fine, scarce.
