Thrace, Maroneia, (after 148 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.06 g), obv. head of young Dionysos to right, wreathed with ivy and band across forehead, rev. Dionysos naked standing to left, holding grapes and two narthex wands, to right **DIONUSIOU*, to left **SWTHROS, below **MARWNITWN, PAUW* monogram to left, **Q* to right with cental pellet, (cf.S.1635, Schonert-Geiss 1116 [obv.35], BMC 59, ACNAC Dewing 1295 [same obverse die], HGC 3, 1556). Good metal, delightful grey patination, minor mark on cheek, extremely fine and rare.
