MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.39 g), Aspendus mint, posthumous issue year 19 = 194-3 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, **AS/IQ* in left field, to right **ALEXANDROU*, (cf.S.6713, Price 2898, DCA (Cohen) 312, Mektepini Hoard 578). Toned, flan crack, nearly very fine.

Ex Dr. L.J. Sherwin Collection and Spink Australia, Auction Sale 27, March 2, 1989 (lot 1109), bought from J.Anderson, Sydney in 1990.
